Playing Tourist
The weekend before last, Jason's parents came out to visit and see our new place. Since Jason and I ourselves hadn't had much of an opportunity to explore the city, we decide to check out some of the most popular tourist destinations while they were here. The first day they were in town (Saturday), they took us out to breakfast at our favorite neighborhood restaurant, then we went to see The Blue Man Group; they put on quite the show!
After the show, we went to a nearby tapas restaurant and had a fantastic dinner. The next day, we checked out the Museum of Science and Industry. They had some interesting exhibits, but overall, we weren't very impressed. Many of them were outdated and others portrayed science very poorly. As a group including two chemists and an engineer, we might have been a little hypercritical... Regardless, this was Jason's favorite part - can't you tell by the enthusiasm on his face!?
After the museum, we went out for an amazing seafood dinner down town. Between the four of us, you'd probably be hard pressed to name a type of seafood we didn't eat.
Monday, John and Terry did a little site seeing on their own while Jason and I went to work. They went to the Sears Tower and took a trolley tour of the city. When Jason and I got done working, they took us to a Thai food restaurant we'd been wanting to try.
Thursday, I went to work while Jason spent some time with his parents before they left. The three of them went to the planetarium. Jason said it was a big improvement over the Museum of Science and Industry. Here he is during the self-guided tour:
I chuckle to myself every time I see this picture because I think when the chair was built, it was designed to be unusually large, but with Jason sitting in it, it looks just the right size!
All said we had a great visit with John and Terry! I think their visit can be summed up well by these two points:
1) They spoiled us!
2) I gained 10 pounds!
