Have I been living under a rock?
Am I the only one who's been completely oblivious to the fact that the Statue of Liberty has been closed to visitors ever since the 9/11 terrorist attacks? I've just learned (article here) that it is once again reopening to visitors on the 4th of July. Will someone please make me feel better about myself and tell me that I'm not the only American who was totally unaware?

Mica, it is still open. Just the crown has been closed. The articles says "The Statue of Liberty's crown is opening to tourists on July Fourth for the first time in eight years." I believe that the entire statue will be accessible. The torch should open shortly after a long renovation.
