Malaga
Our good friends Miriam and Charlie have been visiting us here in Salobrena for the last week. We have been busy, busy trying to cram in as many sites and beaches as possible in their time here. Sadly, they left us this morning. The good news is that they left behind lots of fun memories to blog about!
We spent their first few days here relaxing by the pool and hanging out at the beach. Then, Wednesday, we decided to venture into Malaga to do some exploring. I was very excited when we stumbled upon Alcazba and Castillo de Gibralfaro, ancient fortifications dating back to the 8th and 11th centuries respectively. They were really amazing in their own right, but also, because they are built on a hill, offered fantastic views of Malaga.

After exploring the castle, we headed down to the city to look around. We just so happened to find ourselves in the middle of a large fiesta. The streets were crowded with locals, many dressed in traditional flamenco attire, and the atmosphere was really fun. There were lots of street vendors selling various foods and drinks. We decided to sample the local almonds (like the ones grown on the hillsides surrouding our villa). They were good, but different from the almonds we're used to in the States.

We would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the fiesta, but we had to rush off to an appointment we had at a nearby bodega. More on that adventure to come!
