Girls' Weekend #2 - Bristol

For girls' weekend, Round 2, I went to Bristol to visit Rosalynne at her adorable new apartment. She was still working when I arrived on Friday afternoon, so I did a little walking around the city before settling on this bench in the park on Brandon Hill overlooking all of Bristol. I can't think of a better place to relax in the sun and enjoy a good book!

On my way to meet Rosalynne after work, I passed this mural which made me chuckle.

The weather in Bristol was amazing and we wanted to spend some more time outside, so we headed over to The Apple, an old barge floating in the harbor that has been converted into something of a cafe serving a variety of local ciders - some which they make themselves!

Saturday morning, we got up and headed over to Bristol Blue Glass, a company specializing in making all kinds of products out of the local glass that has been famous around the world since the 1700's. Today, the company has opened its doors to the public and will even let you blow your own glass ball! Being that Jo has a bit of an obsession with glass balls, I figured I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make one for her.

All of the dangerous work was left to the professionals.

After our crafty morning, we made our way back down to the harbor where we caught the ferry on the way to our next destination. Bristol has two ferry companies that operate just like buses, calling at various stops along the harbor - wouldn't this be a fun commute to work?!

After the ferry dropped us off, we had a bit of a hike up to a wonderful terrace overlooking the Bristol suspension bridge. The view out over the gorge was amazing!

Finally, after resting up a bit, it was time for one of my favorite past times - shopping! Rosalynne took me to this neat little village full of cute shops selling everything under the sun. We had a blast browsing through each store. I couldn't believe it when we walked into one store and came across this - the wall o'USA!

I had to get close ups of a few of the items because I couldn't hardly believe how much they could charge for some of these things! I guess this is a prime example of that less on supply and demand from Econ 101...

To do some quick conversions for you: Nerds - $3, Junior Mints - $1.50, and Bazooka Bubble Gum - $3.75!

A can of pumpkin - $6.00 and a bottle of corn syrup - $7.25!

All pretty amazing, right? But this one really takes the cake...absolutely unbelievable!

A box of Lucky Charms - $12.00!! For that price, I hope they contain a small pot of Lucky's gold!
