Surprise!
I guess life hasn't been too exciting lately because, as you may have noticed, I haven't been able to find much to blog about. But, my wonderful, wonderful co-workers spiced things up a bit on Wednesday when they threw me an amazing surprise shower on my birthday.
Surprise!! (That's Joan on the left, the mastermind behind the whole thing):

Just a few of the people I work most closely with at NSF:

Some of my fellow AAAS fellows at NSF:

Here I am practicing with the cutest shower attendee, isn't she adorable?:

Joan obviously spent weeks amassing every type of pink shower decoration she could find. The room was beautifully decorated with gift bags, balloons, stuffed animals and any other pink items she could get her hands on (Joan, I really think you should consider a side job as a party planner!!):

Baby is still weeks away from making her grand appearance and she's already being spoiled rotten!
Our new glider from everyone I work with in the Office of the Director. When Jason and I got home from the shower we were talking about how excited we were about it - we had very different perspectives on it:
Me: Can you believe they got us a glider!? What a generous gift; it's too much! I'm so excited! Do you like it?
Jason: They put it together for us!
Me: I know. Try it out; it's comfy. What do you think?
Jason: I don't have to put it together!!
Thanks Jim, Jason obviously very much appreciates your extra effort toward the gift.
My AAAS mentor, Fae, presenting the gift:
Opening lots, and lots, and lots of presents. This is going to be one well dressed little girl!
It was such a fun afternoon!! Thank you, thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put it together - I had a great time.
And, to top it all off, a special shower/birthday wish all the way from home!:
An aside: All of the photography in this post is credited to my budding photographer husband. He's really proven himself here - I think he's ready to document baby's arrival!
