Memorial Day BBQ

This weekend, the Fico's hosted a Memorial Day weekend BBQ. BBQ's have come to be one of our favorite times to get together with friends - a tradition that I am sure Jason and I will miss once we move. This weekend's BBQ had all of the components we have come to know and love:

1. Some riveting games of Cornhole (for more information, visit the American Cornhole Association's website).

Cornhole has become an integral part of all of our Indiana BBQ's. Two of my favorite Cornhole players to watch over the years have been Maureen, who somehow managed to perfect this interesting form:

And of course, Don Seo's signature five-step toss that looks more like a bowling approach than anything else...if only I had it on video!

2. Some great food ala Charlie (this time he served beef and pork burgers that he ground himself...impressive!):

Luckily, we only had one casualty:

Charlie sure is a good sport about cooking for us. Somehow he's always the one that gets assigned that task.

Exhibit A - Charlie grilling at our Hawaiian party:

Exhibit B - Charlie grilling at the duplex I used to live in:

Exhibit C - Charlie grilling at Dan's place
3. No BBQ would be complete without some explosives, and this weekend was no exception. As usual, Charlie dipped into his arsenal of fireworks to entertain us (or frighten us - depending on who you're asking). Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of that...I was too busy taking cover!

I feel it's only fitting that I make my commenting debut to this post. I'm just glad that you called it BBQ and not cookout, so that I could understand.

Have no fear, Chicago isn't too far away, you'll always be welcome to Chez Fico for more BBQs!
