Seriously AJD, will we ever fly again!?

Something tells me that since this news made it all the way to the UK, you've already heard about it AJD. But, if you were previously living in blissful ignorance...here's that update you've been clamoring for!

ANOTHER plane crash?...really? Is someone trying to mess with me? From the short bit I've read, it seems that a mid-air collision with a flock of geese (I agree, almost too "cheesy-movie scene" to believe!) caused one engine to fail, forcing the pilot to perform a crash landing into the Hudson River. As long as there are birds in the sky, air travel is no longer safe in my mind!

Jason, thank your lucky stars this didn't happen before my flight back from the States - I'd still be there. The only questions now are, (1) how long is the boat ride from Southampton to New York and (2) how much luggage do they allow on board?

I KNOW. I almost wrote you about this one. And in a few weeks I have to take off from LGA. Not happy about this development at all -- I already told KT that if it is that cold out (which, of course, had nothing to do with that accident, but I need some element of control) I'm driving back to Chicago.

I'm oddly comforted by the fact that a water landing, in fact, worked. Not comforted enough that I won't be panicking to high hell when I'm on that plane, but a little part of me is pleased that everyone made it off OK. Kudos to the captain and flight crew for keeping their head, huh?
